These proceedings are in continuation of the
Commission’s earlier proceedings dated 17 January 2019, when it directed as
under: “The District Magistrate, Panna, Madhya Pradesh, is directed to send
within six weeks a report on the status of rehabilitation of 13 bonded
labourers, who were released from the brick kiln in Varanasi, under the provisions
of Rehabilitation of Bonded Labourers Scheme, 2016 in addition to immediate
financial assistance to the released labourers under the scheme.” In
response, the Collector, Panna, Madhya Pradesh, has sent his report dated 06
March 2019, wherein it is stated that eight released bonded labourers out of
12, have been provided Rs. 20,000/- as immediate rehabilitation amount on 25
February 2019. The Commission has considered the report. Issue a reminder to
the District Magistrate, Panna, Madhya Pradesh, directing him to send, within
six weeks, a report on the status of rehabilitation of 13 bonded labourers,
who were released from the brick kiln in Varanasi, under the provisions of
Rehabilitation of Bonded Labourers Scheme, 2016 in addition to immediate
financial assistance to the released labourers under the scheme.

On the
complain of Dr. Lenin Raghuvanshi, Member of District Vigilance Committee, Varanasi
13 bonded labourers and 9 ponies were rescued from NRB marka brick kiln. On 3rd
July, 2018 the team comprising SDM Rajatalab, labour department and staffs of PVCHR
did joint rescue operation.
